The Parents Association’s major fundraising event is the Annual Spring Benefit which is an exciting and enjoyable evening for parents, alumni, trustees, friends, teachers and staff. The festive-themed evening includes live and silent auctions, dancing, a delectable dinner, and open bar. Past themes have included gaming tables and roaming paparazzi. Live and silent auction items are donated by the Harbor community and many local merchants who support our mission. In addition to major auction prizes, the highlights of the evening include Harbor’s Own Budding Artists Collection and the “Fund-A-Grant” auction. Fund-A-Grant auctions provide attendees with an opportunity to donate directly to specific school initiatives at a designated level of support. Previous Fund-A-Grant items have included new student iPads, additional SMART boards, technology advancement, science lab equipment and professional development; auction bids typically range from $50 to any desired amount. This allows families the opportunity to specifically support areas where they have a particular interest. The winning ticket for the Harbor Scholarship Super Raffle is drawn at this event. Winner need not be present to claim prize.
The Book Fair is a great event that celebrates the love of reading with our children. This is usually a three day event with an evening event allowing parents to share time with their children at the Book Fair, with book signings and other fun-filled activities. Each student visits the Book Fair with their class during school hours and may purchase books on account. In addition, in an effort to enrich the classroom or school libraries, we promote the Teacher’s Wish List program enabling the teachers to select desired books for their classroom or school libraries. Parents have the opportunity to buy these books for the classroom or school, and have a label placed inside the book acknowledging the donation with their child or family name. The PA sponsors authors to visit and speak to the students about their writing career, inspiration, writing mechanics and other related topics.
A great evening of family fun, challenges and healthy competition with ‘heart pounding’ activities for all ages to enjoy. Healthy competition between parents and kids in various activities (with the most popular one being soccer). All (Preschool through 8th grade students, siblings, parents, faculty and staff) are invited to come, bring their best game and/or their best cheering voice and enjoy! This event is usually held off the Harbor campus at a sports facility. Food and refreshments are served.
All students take part in making a delicious edible Gingerbread House. Our Gingerbread materials are bought fresh from a local bakery, with the houses assembled and ready for decorating. Preschool decorates the Gingerbread houses in their classrooms during school hours. Kindergarten – Grade 8 students are invited to an after school event to explore their inner architect/designer and decorate the gingerbread houses.
The Harbor Closet, located on the 3rd Floor of the school, is where gently used uniforms for all grades in good condition are kept. “Inventory” is comprised of uniforms donated by parents throughout the year, arranged by size. The Harbor Closet is open to all families throughout the year, to take what they might be able to use, and donate what they no longer need.
Pink Ladies and T-birds will hit the dance floor once again and twist to the likes of Elvis, Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis. Students will learn some new moves and enjoy a special performance by dancers from a local swing dance troupe. After fun in the gym, students will head to Harbor’s “Ice Cream Shop” for a sweet ‘50’s treat.
This is an exciting way to support the school and have a chance to win the SUPER prize of $10,000 in cash or Free Tuition for the next school year! The proceeds from the Harbor Scholarship Super Raffle are used to fund tuition assistance and other student programs. Only 500 tickets will be sold at $100 per ticket. All prizes are subject to applicable taxes. The winner of the Super Raffle is drawn at our Annual Spring Benefit. Winner need not be present to claim prize.
"Trunk or Treat” is a cherished, long standing Harbor tradition. It is a spooktacular and ghoulish evening of family fun, from 5pm –7pm. All students (PreK 3 – Grade 8) and their families are invited to arrive in costume to enjoy a safe and frightfully fun-filled time Trick or Treating out on Harbor Country Day’s field. The field is turned into a safe “neighborhood” of decorated and treat-filled car trunks for our little goblins to enjoy. Evening entertainment has also included an hour show or fun and games in the gym while adults prepare their trunks for the trick or treaters. Story-telling ends the evening’s festivities.
