Mission & Values
Founded in 1958 by a group of dedicated parents, Harbor is the premier non-profit, independent Preschool (2-year-olds) through Grade 8 school on Long Island. Grounded in nearly seven decades of educational heritage, Harbor offers a deliberately small setting that provides children with deeply individualized attention. Within this close-knit environment, no individual is overlooked, and every student is empowered to pursue their unique ambitions.
Our Mission
Cherish childhood. Cultivate wonder. Inspire confident learners and leaders.
Our Promise to Every Child
At Harbor Country Day School, our mission isn’t just a statement on a page; it is the heartbeat of our culture. Built on a foundation of academic excellence and developing a deep compassion for others, everything we do is designed to nurture and spark each student's natural curiosity. We surround our students with the tools, love, and close-knit community they need to thrive.
We measure our success by our students' growth. We are dedicated to raising Harbor graduates who are:
- Fearless Learners & Thinkers: Eager to tackle problems and explore the arts, humanities, and sciences.
- Reflective Leaders: Ready to speak up for themselves and guide others with confidence.
- Compassionate Citizens: Driven by empathy to make a meaningful difference in our global world.

Our Strategic Plan
Our strategic plan is our promise to keep this vision to continue to live our mission for generations to come. We are committed to responsibly managing our resources, supporting our incredible faculty, and continually evolving so that Harbor remains a joyful, safe, and inspiring place for children to learn and grow.
