Visual Arts: Studio Exploration

Harbor's visual arts program nurtures creativity, curiosity, and artistic confidence through hands-on studio experiences from Preschool through Grade 8. In a supportive studio environment, students are encouraged to experiment, take creative risks, and reflect deeply on their work.

  • Media & Techniques: Students explore a diverse variety of media, techniques, and artistic styles to communicate complex ideas visually.
  • Cultural Connections: Art history and cross-curricular connections enrich the studio curriculum. This helping students understand the vital relationships between art, culture, and history.

Music & Performance

Music is an integral part of a Harbor education, fostering collaboration and self-expression from the earliest grades through graduation.

  • Lower School Foundation: Younger students build foundational musical skills through singing, rhythm, movement, and music literacy. In Grade 4, students can join Harbor’s Band program to receive instrument-specific ensemble instruction.
  • Upper School Expansion: Middle school students expand their musical knowledge weekly through General Music, Chorus, and elective Band.
  • Co-Taught Music History: A unique interdisciplinary course, co-taught by music and history faculty, directly connects musical traditions to the specific historical eras students are analyzing in class.
