2018 Spring Benefit

2017 Spring Benefit Highlights

Support Fund-a-Grants

Each year, certain departments are invited to come up with a wish list to fund special initiatives, equipment or materials to enhance educational programs and student life at Harbor. This Fund-A-Grant auction provides an opportunity for you to donate directly to this wish list of items and initiatives, such as classroom supplies and books, playground equipment, technology and maker space, and professional development for faculty. Make your contribution now before the auction.

New Public Address System ($23,000):

Our current public address system is limited in its scope and reach. We need to expand the system to reach all areas of the school, both within Tullip Knoll and throughout the grounds of the school property for those times when we make announcements to the entire school community.

Expanding Classroom Libraries ($7,000):

Our classroom libraries are in need of additional Teachers College resources, including teacher planning texts, mentor texts and student texts. Additionally, we are seeking support to expand and complete our leveled libraries in grades 1-5 so our Lower School students have access to the broadest range of reading materials.

Technology for Students ($15,000):

  1. Harbor's technology curriculum is expanding in the number of students learning coding, as well as the ways in which we are teaching coding. We need to upgrade and increase our supply of materials for student use.
  2. Robotics Club: Harbor will be adding a robotics club for grades 5-8. To support this expansion, we are seeking funding for additional robotics equipment, access to online coding sources and resources, building materials and training.

Faculty Professional Development ($10,000):

Training opportunities this current year include STEAM and technology conferences, Teachers College Reading and Writing Curriculum and visiting consultants, Singapore math consultant, New York State Association of Independent School (NYSAIS) Administration Retreats, and library and media workshops. Generous support from the Harbor community will enable us to continue this faculty development, deepen our knowledge, and stay at the forefront of best educational practices.
