Giving to Harbor
As a nonprofit institution, Harbor Country Day School relies heavily on philanthropy to enable us to continue to provide an extraordinary educational experience. At Harbor, as with other independent schools, tuition alone does not cover the cost of educating each child, nor does it cover the expenses of attracting and retaining an outstanding faculty or developing an exceptional academic program for our student body.
At Harbor, philanthropic support is all about the children – the bright, creative, enthusiastic young students who are at the heart of Harbor. Our students are the reason our teachers come to work in the morning with smiles on their faces, why parents become so engaged in the life of the school, and why Harbor's founders took the bold step of starting a new school in 1958 with the mission to "cherish childhood, cultivate wonder and inspire confident learners and leaders."
Supporting Harbor is an integral part of being a member of the school community. Gifts to the school are typically made by current parents, alumni, grandparents, Harbor’s faculty and staff, trustees, and others in the community who have a connection to the school. Every gift from every donor, no matter how large or small, is indispensable and allows us to maintain healthy student-teacher ratios, offer appropriate and innovative programs, and continue to evolve as a school. Contributions to Harbor Country Day School also show strong support of the school, our values, our mission, and our future, which in turn inspires others to give, so that we may continue to provide outstanding educational opportunities to children across Long Island for many years to come.
